This section includes essays which I have written myself as well as links to sites of interest.

Neil Welliver was my teacher and mentor. He was the primary influence on my devlopment as an artist. My first formal study in visual arts was a course I took with him - freehand drawing in pen and ink.

My work as an artist is integrally related to my love of nature. I am affilated with several conservation- oriented groups.

The American Littoral Society is a New Jersey based group working for preservation of coastal and estuarian habitat.

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance is dedicated to preserving the New Jersey Pinelands as mandated by the state's Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan, a far reaching, visionary plan passed by the state of New Jersey in the 1970's.

The Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association works to preserve open space and evironmental quality within the Wissahickon watershed in Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, Pennsylavania.

Many of my paintings have been based on photos taken on trips led by Susan Wertz (Ocean Travel). Susan is a professional educator who leads trips to tropical areas and teaches courses on the nature of the locals.
